Most electrical faults that defeat a multimeter are visible on a scope, because a scope shows the shape of a signal while a meter shows only its average. An injector pulse that is present but weak, a crank sensor losing its pattern at temperature, a charging ripple that should not be there — all of these read as normal volts on a meter and as a clear fault on a waveform.
A handheld two-channel unit is enough for this work: one channel on the signal, one on a known reference, with the ability to freeze a slow event. Learn one measurement properly — the relative compression test or the starter current ramp — rather than chasing every waveform in a manual.
Handheld oscilloscope with 4 channels and a 50 MHz bandwidth, a 5-inch colour display and a built-in signal generator, supplied with automotive test leads and an attenuator. Battery powered with a rechargeable cell, so it can be used away from a mains socket.
Orders are consolidated and re-weighed at intake, and freight is re-calculated on the actual chargeable weight. If you are ordering several items for one address, ask us for a combined quote before paying — mixing light and bulky items usually brings the freight share down.
