What it is for

A hacksaw is a frame and a consumable, and the frame's only job is to keep the blade tensioned so it cuts straight. These frames tension the blade with a lever rather than a wing nut, which is quicker and holds its setting through a cut.

The blade is the part that matters: 24 teeth per inch for steel and tube, 18 for softer material and castings, 32 for thin-wall work where a coarse blade snags. The set ships with a mixed pack so you find the right pitch rather than guessing.
